Advitam IP News
Four more YEArs! Four more YEArs!
Advitam IP founder Michele Katz recently led a Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) session on entity formation and intellectual property. It is the fourth consecutive year that Michele has taught the course for YEA!. YEA! is a groundbreaking year-long educational and mentorship program that takes students in grades six through twelve through the process of starting and running a real business. The program is sponsored by the Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO Chicago) and hosted by 1871, an incubator and supporter of Chicago’s thriving technology and entrepreneurial ecosystem. The YEA! Chicago program aims to build and inspire future entrepreneurs by bridging business and educational communities with cohorts led by trained instructors and exposing students to guest lecturers, successful entrepreneurs and mentors.YEA! Chicago also hosts pitch competitions for its students’ business plans, in many cases sending students to compete nationally for recognition and scholarship opportunities. The students also participate in trade shows, tour local business’ headquarters and receive guidance on legally registering their companies.
At the Heart of Saving Lives
Advitam IP founders Michele Katz and Richard Gurak recently visited the Wheeling headquarters of client, WorldPoint, a training provider and product distributor that is at the heart of saving peoples’ lives. WorldPoint connects its clients with the American Heart Association training materials and an array of supporting products to improve first aid outcomes. From providing CPR manikins, AED products and skilled professionals for a variety of health care-related training programs, WorldPoint is at the heart of their clients’ training needs. Richard and Michele spent the day with President and CEO John Amato and Vice President of Marketing Kate McGrath learning how their IP counsel will continue to support the ongoing success of WorldPoint.
Advitam IP recently took social networking to a new level, courtesy of our client, Proxfinity. Proxfinity makes wearable technology that enhances and tracks face-to-face interaction. It helps users visually identify people with shared interests. Think how much more productive Proxfinity’s products could make your sales teams at industry conferences. Advitam IP founders Richard Gurak and Michele Katz tested the technology at a recent social networking event co-sponsored by Amata Law Offices Suites and Advitam IP. At the event, Michele was able to spend some time with Proxfinity’s CMO and Owner, Christine Hutchison.

Positioning an industry leader in LED and energy-efficient lighting for long-term growth
For 3 generations, Bill Solomon and family have nurtured AFX Inc. into a leader in energy efficient lighting tech. Advitam IP cofounders Michele and Richard spent the day with team AFX to understand business operations and strategize to ensure its IP assets are positioned to assist long-term growth potential.
Fostering cultural understanding
Advitam IP finished its third summer volunteering at La Semana, a week-long culture day-camp for children in elementary through high school who were adopted from Latin America, and their family members. Fostering cultural understanding has always been an integral part of Advitam IP’s business practice.
IP education for entrepreneurs
In the fast-paced tech world, hungry entrepreneurs need to protect their intellectual property. Advitam IP founders Richard and Michele speak to vital aspects of IP and engage in Q & A sessions at the 1871/Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Hispanic Technology Incubator.
